I used to apply makeup with my fingers; then I got my hands on a trendy blending sponge and it changed my foundation game.
Recently, the team at Michael Todd Beauty contacted me to see if I'd be interested in testing out the Sonic Blend Makeup Brush, which vibrates and promises to perfectly blend foundation. I couldn't resist the urge to try it out. As a disclaimer, they sent the brush to me gratis for the opportunity to review it, but I am posting my true opinion.
Even though I was excited to try it, I was also a little nervous. I use a cleaning brush every day in the shower to wash my face, but something about using an electronic makeup device was intimidating. When I finally unpacked it from the box, I loved the pink color (and equally pink charging cord).
There is a lengthy instruction booklet that accompanies the brush, which I read, but I found it easier to freestyle it than follow the book to the letter.
The brush vibrates in several speeds (I've only used the slowest), and it's super straightforward. I've played around with different methods of application with it, and against the booklet's instructions, lately I've been dabbing my foundation on the main areas of my face and using the brush to blend it in.
Like the cleansing brush, there are replaceable brush heads available for purchase, but the bristles are coated with antimicrobial technology to keep germs away, so that may not be as necessary. My only issue has been that I am prone to applying a heavier coverage when using it than I am with a wet sponge. I've only been using it for a week , but I plan to test out different methods and layered moisturizers to master a lighter coverage.
The Sonic Blend brush has been a really fun addition to my makeup routine, and I would definitely recommend it. It's fun to use and does a great job of blending, even into fine lines and around the delicate eye area.
